Well most of you are already aware of the results of this year's Canadian GD. Some will say it was weird, other outrageous and other simply wtf...! Anyhow. Personally I won't say anything and
stick to the "all the judges decision are final". Furthermore a panel of judge awarded the entries of people for their effort based on various criteria and I do not want to diminish the
realisation of these other painters by starting to scream about the outcome.
Yes obviously I am a little disappointed but eh! It's a subjective contest so. Furthermore, in a really weird kind of way I'm glad that my ogryns did not place. As I said before the ogryns did
not have the level I wanted them to have. I lacked time and played more on the ensemble of the piece than the individual models. Turned out that the judges did not care much about the ensemble,
the atmosphere (although supposively crucial in single...) and the story told by my entry. Therefore my entry should have been in battle or open as the tank...
The tank was no surprise though. It's place is in a military modeling contest, not a GD so...
In both cases I received excellent comments from everyone at GD and for that thank you. If my work pleases my fan I do not really care if it wins or no. As I said so many times I paint what
inspires me, try various technique and won't alter that to fit more in the usual atmosphere of a specific contest and I'l continue to do that!
Otherwise congrats to Thierry Husser for that well deserved sword! I was glad to meet him again. Been a while since we were able to chat! His stuff is amazing as usual! Glad to see you back at
such events!
As for the rest of the event. I was totally disappoint by the lack of entries in many categories. It's painful to see display cases empty. At the same time the level definitely kick up a
notch. Our members from Team Montreal juste keep improving. Team Toronto also seem to develop nicely and taking shape. Furthermore there were many entries from people not belonging to these
teams that were really impressive. And for that only I can say that this year edition was a success. We, Team Montreal, had a plan 2 years ago by bringing french painters in Toronto. We wanted to
shake people up and wake them up and now we can see that's it working! So keep painting.
Our masterclass table was nice and run nicely! Thanks for passing by.
The new venue is interesting but damn get some lights in there!!!
As for now I'm still in Toronto shooting that Miniature Mentor tutorial video. I'll be back home on wednesday to continue working on the vampire I started at Games Day. I'll rework on my ogryns
as well and hope that the BOS Forgeworld doesn't disqualifies me for Chicago. I also have to start thinking about entries for Gencon and start preparing these classes. So sound like it's gonna be
another busy month.
On these words take care and keep painting!!!
