Well it is this time of the year again. Sherbrooke's (my hometown) masterclass is now in the preparation stage. It will be held october 10-11-12.

Where: Le Griffon - 19 Wellington N. Sherbrooke, Qc, Canada
When: 10-11-12 October 2009
Cost: 65$ including the figurine and goodies.

Imposed figurine: Horthak

What is a Figostage?

It is an intensive painting class spread on three days. Every principles of miniature painting will be explored starting with the primer and basecoat all the way to the final touches passing by zenithal lighting and perfect blending.

Everyone will be painting the same figurine which will allow work on clothing, sking, face and metallic. The chosen figurine will therefore provide a good medium to experiment with these techniques and also to explore further. Several theoretical concepts will also be explored such as color theory, zenithal lighting, compostion and base conception.

The masterclass will be held over three days. The 2 first days (saturday and sunday) will be intensive days starting at 9am until 9-10pm. The evenings will be a little more relax allowing for personal work or advancing further on the class miniature. The monday (which is a holiday in Canada) will be less intensive. Starting at 10am until 4pm it will be mostly to conclude on different concepts and explore techniques and theories requested by students.

There is no level requirement to attend the class. It is open to everyone. Every students will receive the same theoretical formation and the same technical demonstration. For the hands-on part of the class a 1-on-1 approach is adopted by which every participant receive personalized advice and and instruction to improve his own level. So weither you are a beginner or a master you have something to learn from this class.

Well the weather has been disgusting lately... It is freaking warm, highly humid and sooo sticky and no it doesn't really cool down at nights. So the paint dries too quickly, greenstuff can be worked with for 45 minutes and I am sweating simply by sitting at my desk. SO do i need to you how unmotivating it is to paint right now? But guess what GD UK is on the 27 of september so...

Otherwise bye bye dreadnought. I look at it and doesn't really know where to start. I am not a freehand painter and it's about time I stop planning projects involving a shit load of freehand so... More on that later but I'm still sticking to Space Marines and I'll still be in vehicles!

I've put online a new tutorial on how to paint metallic. It is purely theory as it is and I should be adding examples in the future.

You can find it here!

It is always a pleasure to be able to teach miniature painting at various events. I must say that this year at GENCON was exceptionnal. I was highly surprised by the level and aptitude of my different students. Most of the time in these classes some people shows up and you wonder what they are doing there by their total lack of interest.

I had none of these students this year. No matter your level when you first sat at the table you've all shown tremendous progress in the 2 or 4 hours together!

For this tank you! You made my classes easy en enjoyable! I'll definitely be back next year!

I also want to thank all the sponsors of the classes: Mig Productions, Guild of Harmony Miniatures, JMD Miniatures and Maow Miniatures for the material and figurine provided. I really appreciated it and the student did as well!

So once again thank you and keep painting!
