Moving Forward: First Steps to Advanced Painting

Description: This 4 hours class covers every aspect of miniature painting from start to finish with a one on one approach. Get familiar with blending your colors, learn how to do proper metallic, discover the various techniques to make a face stand out. Learn how the pros do it in a time frame that will allow us to make it happen. This class is open to new comers and experienced painters who want to bring their painting to a higher level.

Metallics with a Shine

Description: Learn how to give that extra shine to your models! Class covers true metallic paint techniques. Explore how to paint stunning silvers and golds rich with nuances using various weapons and other accessories, as well as weathering techniques, such as rust and vert de gris. Figure and paint provided. Please bring your brushes.

Airbrushing for Figurines

Description: Explore the basic principles of airbrushing figurines: how an airbrush and compressor work, various techniques and concerns such as level of dilution, spraying action, level of pressure, and flow of paint. Perfect class to explore this medium and achieve amazing results in a fraction of the time in figurine painting.

Weathering with Acrylics, Dry Pigment and Oil Paint

Description: Add modeling techniques to your painting skills to achieve fast and realistic effects. Use dry pigments and oil paints for weathering vehicles and scenic bases, create realistic mud/dust effects, cover pipes and surfaces with rust, or easily simulate burned effects on exhaust pipes.

Painting Female Faces and Muscles

Description: Female skin and muscles are always complex to paint due to the subtlety of the female anatomy. Learn how to emphasize the various muscles on a female body without overdoing it by looking at the right balance of shadows and highlights as well as good color choice. You can make sure that these models will not scare you anymore. Figure and paint provided.

Painting Monstrous Faces

Description: Monster's face can be a challenge to achieve. How can you emphasize it's monsters attribute, play with colors to make it stand out, maximize the impact of that mouth full of gigantic teeth. This class will show you how and will make sure to brake your mold in order to push your limits forward!

It is now official!!! GD Paris will be held on April 18 2010 at the Parc Floral in Paris! The choice of location is simply fantastic. Hopefully the weather will be nice to allow us to walk through the gardens and visit the Château de Vincennes! Compare to the Parc des Expositions of last year, which is also where Monde du Jeu is held, it is a real delight!

I updated the Where I'll be section with info on shows i'll be attending next year. So far it looks like Adepticon, GD Paris, GD Baltimore and Gencon. The rumour has it that there will only be one GD in North America this year in Baltimore so... If there is one in Toronto I'll be there but... I usually attend the Long Island Model Miniature Show around this time of the year. Unfortunately this year I'll pass. It is a really nice event but I'm afraid that I just can't manage the budget to head that way this year... I will most likely attend the Ravage Mix-Open in Paris in september and maybe GD UK once again... all depends on the schedule of these events.

Otherwise the Karabidae is mostly finished. Just a few touch ups with pigments and inks and we're good. I took a break from painting lately to clear my mind in order to come back to it more motivated than ever. But with Adepticon and GD Paris fast approaching I have to get back to work!
